Walking aimlessly across Manhattan, I saw the fascinating details around me and tried to make sense of it all. Adrift among the crowds, in the ebb and flow of that enormous “reservoir of electric energy”. Somehow, I felt outside of this bubbling melting pot—a city that at once absorbs everything yet in which nothing remains. Revelling in detachment, in pure spectatorship, I was a traveler without identity.
